I would have taken the 90 in with a nice neat elbow , Its easy with a Laggers eye !!
u forgot to run your knife across the seam, if its not jacketed soon, it will open, especially in the 1/2×1 and small sizes as such, also why didnt you just make a stove pipe 90, and cut the heel off? it would save a bundle, especially if u have to order prefab 90′s
the hat was free! Yes I am a hack and have been doing this since the early 60′s when we used to sew the jacketing on with an osborne needle. we only have a couple minutes to do these videos and I did them on my first try.
We have solved insulation issues for all branches of the military, NASA, INTEL, and hundreds of schools, chemical companies, food plants, bio diesel, distilleries, etc. We have experts that work here that are not as hacky as me.
thank you. these are certainly very basic but further detail instruction and alternatives are available if you call for Mike, Eric or Steve
those slits are know as “The flying V” as it speeds up installation though not approved or recommended by all manufacturers for permeability reasons which mostly applies to chilled pipe systems or in food process areas.
Thanks for the comment !
we have molded PVC for the fiberglass system that come with fiberglass pre-cut inserts. these are secured with matching tape and/or stainless serrated tacks. you can follow the instructions in the clips to make els for the elastomeric system or we can make them for you.
staples are definitely a thing of the past but the seam must be rubbed very well. the new acrylic adhesive’s bond (on the seams) actually gets stronger with age.
hey steve u forgot the staples? and the cp9
What do you do to cover the 90?
we cover out pipes slightly differantly tho
we cut 90 degree slits in the length then put it on
this guy is a hack at least he’s wearing a nice hat
I really like this demo, real simple. Good job.
