Chin-up bar: rear installed

Made from 1" Schedule 40 pipe and Easy Fit structural pipe fittings. The back brace is MDF. Foam pipe insulation wraps the door frame braces, and covers the surface of the back brace. The main grip is done in cheap bicycle handlebar wrap (enough for one set of handlebars was perfect).

Custom designed for my 30" wide door frame, with a 13" deep wall.

so you screw in the piece of wood there? Isn’t there lots of torque on it?

  2. phidauex says:

The wood just presses against the wall – no attachments. As much as it looks like it pulls downward on the trim, the force is more directed straight into the wall – and spread over a few studs, that isn’t much pressure for the wall to take.
